Lance Marino was elected as your Clerk for St. Charles Parish in the Fall of 2011 and began to serve you on July 1st, 2012. In less than one year, he became a Certified Clerk by completing The Louisiana State Certification Program as established by The Louisiana Clerks of Court Association. Lance was re-elected to his second term by a large margin in 2015. He is a native and resident of Norco, Louisiana. He attended Destrehan High School, The University of New Orleans and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. For 8 years (between 2000 and 2008), it was his honor to serve St. Charles Parish: first, as the District 6 Councilman, then as Councilman-at-Large, Division A. His wife of 24 years is Mary Waguespack Marino and they have four children: Jacob, 21; Elena, 18; Rachel, 16; and Dominic, 14. Mary is a licensed Physical Therapist who is employed at St. Charles Parish Hospital.
He and his family are parishioners of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Norco. He is a long-time member of The Knights of Columbus Red Church Council #3634. He serves The Knights as Membership Director, Awards Chairman and Easter Egg Hunt organizer (with the help of his wife and children). He has been a recipient of The Knights’ Chairman of the Year Award, The Knight of the Year Award, the Past Grand Knights Award, and the prestigious Monsignor Marcel Fourcade Award. He is a former member and membership director of The Norco Lions Club and has been involved as a booster and fundraiser for The DHS Baseball Team and The DHS Marching Band, of which his children were members. He has coached his children in the St. Charles Recreation Program and serves as announcer at local meets and invitationals for his children’s swim team.
Before becoming Clerk, Lance made his living as an Independent Insurance Broker specializing in employee benefits. He prepared himself for his current role of Clerk of Court by establishing “Lance Marino Legal Support Services, Inc.”, an enterprise in which he gained seven years of valuable court run and paralegal experience.
During his time on the council, he acted responsibly with your tax dollars, supporting prudent management of our parish’s substantial budget while completing record numbers of road, drainage, flood control and hurricane protection projects. As a Council Leader, he chaired the council meetings for 2 consecutive years, presiding over organized proceedings, efficiently doing parish business while welcoming public input. He brought back the opening prayer to the council agenda as well as the practice of having The Pledge of Allegiance always led by one of St. Charles Parish’s Honored Veterans.
As your Clerk of Court, he is ushering in an era of modernization to the Clerk’s office, as promised. The St. Charles Parish Clerk’s Office now has a fully functioning web site, email for all staff members (which was previously unavailable), new computer equipment and Wi-Fi enabled high-speed internet service. All historical records are being safeguarded and are in the process of being digitized. On election night, returns are posted online and on local cable access TV, in real-time, as soon as available. Electronic access of records is more available to the public, the legal community, and the courts. All of this while working within and scrupulously managing a finite fee-driven budget which does not include any tax dollars. Lance has overseen these state-of-the-art improvements while insuring that the courteous, competent staff at the clerk’s office continues its tradition of quality personal service!
